Laura Bright is an abstract artist based in Sydney, Australia, who has studied a Bachelor of Visual Arts degree at Sydney College of the Arts, The University of Sydney. In recent years, Laura has delved into a variety of art practices including drawing, photography, painting, printmaking and glass blowing. In December 2018, she was selected as a Finalist for the Blacktown City Art Prize, along with being in a group exhibition at THE SPACE Gallery in Rosebery.
Laura’s practice is inspired by the ideas of the conscious and subconscious that is drawn from her own life experiences. Influenced by her intuition, she is often drawn to certain colours depending on how she feels in the moment or how she has felt in past experience. Colour theory is an important element in her work as different colours affect people’s emotions and reactions. Through her main medium of alcohol inks, the process of creating allows her to explore the uncontrolled nature of emotions and feelings people encounter in their daily lives.
