Blue columns, Maroubra beach I & II
As a freelance copywriter, I find myself in multiple locations throughout the year – too many to count. I’ve begun a series of paintings that reflect the changing views from my window. One from memory, and one from a photo. It’s become apparent to me that through this experiment, painting from memory exercises a time and place that only exists in our mind. We shape things by memory differently from what the reality is, often simplifying images, thoughts and words into shapes, lines, colours and emotions.
