Clay Pot - Suri Tribe, Ethiopia
Traditionally the clay pot she is carrying would carry milk, water or sorghum beer. The Suri are nomadic pastoralists. They grow sorghum, maize and tobacco and depend highly on their cattle for survival, which is also a prized possession of wealth. A women’s dowry price for her hand in marriage consists mainly of cattle.
