Sitting in a scene of contentment, in his abode, in his home. A place which naturally feels right, the place where he belongs.
With an expressive technique and a vibrant collection of colours and energy this piece explores the duality and flux of everyday life; a combination of which create a holistic view of emotions and moods that occur in a single day of a sentient being.
Using warm, cool, rich and radiant colours to portray happiness, calmness, anger, passion, peace, serenity, love, joy and the myriad of feelings we see a clear similarity to the ups and downs of daily life that we too encounter.
This painting aims to highlight the complexity of emotions that a wild being feels, more than the base primitive expressions that we generally limit them to.
The juxtaposition of the eyes magnifies this duality, yet shows it as two sides to a single pair. We are all complex, we all experience highs and lows, moments of brightness and darkness, but it is these moments and combinations, which allow us and build us to be complex wholes. They create the basis of a full life.
When we see these emotions within our wildlife we then understand that wild lives are not apart from us, but rather a part of us.
About the artist:
As an artist my work is more than portraiture of an animal; instead, my mission is to convey a glimpse, a momentary pause into the life of that being.
My visual palette and poetic narratives draw inspiration from eastern wisdom of the auras and spirit, which reflect our emotional energy and signify our vibrancy of life. This influence is utilised to highlight the unifying force/soul, which resides equally in all beings and transcends the material form.
Through this journey, I explore the deeper connections that run spiritually, emotionally and experientially between all beings.
Through my art I express the lives around us as a part of us; in the same way that we are all part of what Ancient Greek teachings term Gaia: the complex living being that is Mother Earth.
