About the artwork:
This work was drawn from a group of sketches made between March 2019 and September 2020 of the Botany Bay and the Cooks River catchment. It represents an attempt to integrate elements from those sketches to form a new whole - an altered but true story of the area.
About the artist:
I Studied painting at Kogarah School of Fine arts under Roy Jackson and Peter Upward and from there took up residence for 2 years at mansion house studio. Later taking up an opportunity to work in commercial design and print and wining Corel Draw digital graphics prize in 1995. In 2000 I returned to study media arts at UTS where I secured an honors degree as well as winning a first prize for animation in 2003. That same year securing 2nd prize in the Tokyo International animation Prize. In 2004 exhibited animation at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image Melbourne and in 2011 was shown at the Sydney International Animation Festival. More recently I have returned my focus to the painting which has sustained me over the years and was a finalist in the 2019 and 2020 greenway art prize.
