Proud Turkana - Turkana Tribe, Kenya
I call this image Proud Turkana because she stands strong enduring the harsh conditions of her habitat. Her tribe the Turkana is named after Lake Turkana, a vast saline lake in northwest region of Kenya often called the Jade Sea due to its green colour. Both the woman and the men wear the ear jewellery, ‘NakaparaparaI’. The men of the tribe make them from aluminium. Both married women and men wear labrets that cut through their lower lips as see here.
