Art is perhaps the most effective way to enrich a space. Much like an indoor plant, art brings life and light into an otherwise dreary space. Blank walls never brought anyone joy, let’s be real.
The Exeter University’s school of psychology conducted surveys on the effects of art on employee productivity in the workplace. They found that employees working in enriched spaces were 17% more productive than those who were forced to work in dull spaces. Of course, there is a fine line between bringing a space to life and recreating some kind of psychedelic nightmare from one of the Austin Powers movies, so be careful not to overdo it.
There is a lot to be said for surrounding yourself with things that make your heart sing. Creating a positive space with some character (and plants of course) is not only a recipe for a productive space but a happy home as well.
