Description

This artwork was inspired by the hardworking village women of northern South Africa. A dear friend of mine, who reigns from the proud Ndebele Tribe of Limpopo, has told me many stories of how the young girls and women in her village have the responsibility of bringing water to the small community. These women would walk for many kilometres through the African terrain to fill their jars with water from the nearest river. To pass the time, they would sing gospel songs in unison as they made the long trek home.

Medium: Oil on canvas
Size: 61 x 76 x 3.5 cm
