African Scops Owl

The African scops owl is endemic to sub-Saharan Africa and is found in wooded habitats; savanna with scattered trees and thorny shrubs, park-like areas, gardens with some mature trees and forest clearings. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature Red List of Threatened Species lists the African Scops Owl as of least concern.

This close-up portrait of the African Scops Owl allows us not only to see the beautiful plumage of this small African owl but is a reminder to us of the need to protect and conserve the beautiful birdlife of Africa.
