Emmellee Rose is a contemporary artist and photographer who lives and works in Sydney Australia. Photography of landscapes to dystopian cityscapes are brought to life with contrasting and harmonious colours and bold compositions.
As the artist says, “I love to tell stories and welcome you to join me on this visual journey.”
From a young age Emmellee was interested in bold colours and photography. She has earned an art degree at the Art Institute-of California San Francisco.
Emmellee’s artwork has been shown in exhibitions in Dunedin. She has put on four successful solo shows at Koru Gallery Dunedin, with the last one being in 2022.
My colourful mosaics of paper and paint pay homage to the urban spaces she grew up in from Christchurch to London to San Francisco to Dunedin. Her distinctive personal style emanates joyful exuberant colours that express her vibrant personality.
AsEmmelleeexplains, “My art is an outside view of my inner world. It is the only way that I can truly express myself. I get lost in the patterns and colours, it's as if the art is driving me and I let go of control and let the art take over. I can be free. I lose track of time and space. I know where all the pieces need to go, the art work lets me know, it feels like I am simply the conduit in which the art flows through me.”
