About the artwork

Many of my works are loosely inspired by the Australian landscape, but what I'm most interested in is our emotional response to environment. These two paintings reflect my fascination with that narrow line where sea meets land, and with changing weather. The natural environment directly affects our mood, from inducing a feeling of tranquility, to being unsettled by an approaching storm. I work intuitively, and let the painting determine its journey, holding off critical judgement for as long as possible. This enables me to paint my emotional response to a memory rather than attempt to capture an accurate likeness.
