One of the most fundamental metaphors used for mind is a pot that is a physically finite and bounded space with a clear distinction between inside and outside. But this metaphor has implications which goes beyond words and they show that thought is always metaphorical. The metaphors we draw on for an abstract thought are often based on how we physically interact with the world.
